Join  Tracie Hines and us in the Piedmont Region of Northern Italy, for an intimate tour (7 travelers max.) as we explore and learn together in Italy’s premier wine region. We’ll visit medieval towers and castles, museums and ancient town centers, numerous wineries and wine tastings in key towns such as Alba, Barbaresco, Barolo, Canelli, and a visit to the healing ancient *thermal baths of Acqui Terme, among others. Interspersed throughout our explorations, we’ll come together as a small group of like-minded travelers to learn about the power of plant-based nutrition via the award-winning Physician’s Committee for Responsible Medicine “Food for Life – Kickstart Your Health” curriculum, to support optimal health and vitality and cook nutritious and healthy foods together. All the while surrounded by the natural beauty, culture and landscape of the Piedmont Region of Italy. We have designed this trip with extreme care and detail to ensure a personalized experience that you will find nowhere else.

Your tour includes:

·      Accommodation: 8 days and 7 nights lodging in Calamandrana, Piedmont, Italy;

·      All Meals: *Breakfast, lunch & dinner, including wine; each day we will have a chance to taste Piedmontese cuisine at rustic farmhouses and fine restaurants, including Michelin starred.  During nutrition/cooking workshop days, we’ll prepare lunches together so you’ll have first-hand experience learning how to prepare delicious whole-food, plant-based meals;

·      Wine Tastings: Wine tastings at local wineries – including Barbera, Barbaresco, Barolo wines, delicious local sparkling wines and more…

·      Excursions: Visits to historic towns of Acqui Terme, Asti, Alba, Barbaresco, Canelli, Costiglio D’Asti, Nizza Monferrato, Neive, La Morra...;

·      Special Sparkling Wine tasting: Visits to atleaset 2 UNESCO World Heritage Site listed underground wine cellars of Canelli, of course followed by a taste of their fine wines;

·      Museums : Visits to your choice of  up to 2  museums in Asti;

·      Pearl of the Region : Visit to a truffle house or a truffle hunt;

·      Whole-Food, Plant-Based Cooking and Nutrition Workshops: You will learn how to Kickstart your Health with the power of plant foods in three, immersive-style workshops sessions, each of which will include food preparation as we learn and cook together. The curriculum is built from the work and expertise of Dr. T. Colin Campbell (T. Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies), Dr. Michael Greger (nutritionfacts.org) and Dr. Neal Barnard (The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine). Workshops are taught by – Tracie Hines – certified Plant-Based Chef, as well as a certified Nutrition Therapist also holding a certificate in Plant-Based Nutrition;

·      Shopping: Free-time for shopping and relaxation; Borsalino and many famous brands in Asti.  If your visit is in July or August you will also encounter the sales season in Italy!

·      Transportation:  Private transport from Turin Caselle or Milano Malpensa Airport; and for all of your tours included in your 8 day stay.

THE REGION
The region around Calamandrana offers a wealth of options from enjoying the picturesque landscapes and historical landmarks to visiting museums. Asti’s centre, less than 30 Km away from us, shows much of its medieval history and has many fairs and festivals celebrating the wine and the food of the area.
