Cascina GalloOrsi is the ideal base for many activities such as trekking among the vineyards, horse riding or bicycling and visits to the cellars and breweries.
Wine tasting and cellars: We are centrally located, in 5 minutes you can be in wine producing towns of Nizza Monferrato & Canelli and within about half an hour you can visit famous wine producers specializing in Barolo, Barbaresco, Moscato D'Asti, Ruche and other regional wines. We’ll be happy to help you make appointments at special vineyards when necessary and also help you to plan your wine tasting tours.
Truffle hunting: The ‘king of the table’, the white truffle is in season between October and mid December, and in the summer the black truffle is another great present from our hills. We can organize, with early notice, a truffle hunt guided by an experienced truffle hunter and his dog.
Cooking lessons: We serve Piemontese and international foods and we make our jams and other preserves mainly from the produce of our organic orchard and kitchen & herb gardens. If you are interested we’d be happy to hold jam making and cooking classes for you. Please let us know ahead of time.
Guided nature walks: Our land, mainly comprised of woods and orchards, is quiet and cheerful, offering you an opportunity to rest, relax and enjoy nature. You may see wild orchids, deer, squirrels and other wildlife. We are happy to offer bird & nature watching tours and classes.
Walks and trekking: There are many well marked and easy paths allowing the guests to explore the area and the villages nested on top of the hills; for the more adventurous walkers in 4-5 days it is possible to reach the Mediterranean sea following the ridges of the hills.
Bicycling: Cascina GalloOrsi is located along the cycling path ‘Nizza with path’ (57 Km) that connects many cellars specialised in the ‘Nizza’ Barbera wine.
Horse riding: We can organize horse riding and horse-carriage excursions, through the vineyards, with the help of a riding club a few minutes away.
Swimming: We do not have a swimming pool, but there are several within few kilometres and we can help you chose the one that best fits your needs.
Thermal baths and spa treatments: The ancient town of Acqui Terme is known since Roman times for its hot springs. Hot water pools , massages and relaxing treatments are available at the ‘Lago del Sorgenti’. We can arrange appointments for you at the local spa.
